Happy anniversary to the opening of Anastasia on broadway 🥰 it's been nine years 💀 Odds are I'll still be drawing them next year lol so stick around and maybe I'll have a cool piece planned for the ten year anniversary.

Here's a #drewstruzan style poster redesign, i actually started this a year ago before picking it up again recently. procreate tracked about 15 hours of work 😶 I could keep picking at it for another 12 months, but tbh I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Pictured are the obc, but the scene in the foreground is from promo during their out of town tryout in hartford. I just love that pink dress so much.

Happy new year! Whether you've followed me forever or are new here, thank you all for the support over the years. This app is still a struggle for me but you guys are always so kind and joyful.

This was a year of big moves for me, so I'm hoping we can keep the momentum going. My goals were to move to a new spot and find a new job, and we did both! Yay! Maybe 2026 will bring an art studio? Some more art community events? We'll see. I like to keep an open mind.

In the meantime I saw a lot of shows, took three trips, went to two concerts, was in a wedding, chopped my hair, saw Derek Klena in Indianapolis twice and met him once (!!!!), made it into a local art show, and painted some theatre pictures. I expect to paint some more theatre pictures in 2026 🙈

I started a few of these a while ago but I have yet to come back to them. The first photo is Courtney Reed as Satine, the second is Ashley Loren. Derek Klena is in each of them.

The first one I was trying to be a little more experimental with my color pallet, but I'm not sure if I liked the result, so I never ended up sharing it, even though I wanted to post something in celebration of Courtney and Derek's run together.

I had the pleasure of seeing Derek as Christian twice, once on his first year with Ashley and again next year when he returned with Jojo Levesque. I couldn't make it out to NYC a third time but I'm sure he was just as amazing <3

How do you guys feel about jukebox musicals? Or musical adaptations of blockbuster movies? For the most part, I don't really care much for them, I prefer something original and more unique to the theatre medium. However... my favorite show of all time is Anastasia and I really really enjoyed this one a lot. It's just so fun. And they really make it a quintessential theatre experience, with crazy dancing and fun costumes and wild set pieces. What do you think?

This piece took a while! Procreate tracked about 31 hours 💀

Uploading speedpaints and process vids is always a little mortifying for me, because my process is never linear, and you can see how long I let certain mistakes slide before correcting them. This one is especially painful at the beginning— you can see how I dove right in before properly considering the overall composition (this is why we always do thumbnails first!) but we eventually found our way.

However embarrassing it is, I think it’s important to share videos like this, as they helped me a lot when I was just starting to learn digital techniques. It’s important to see spots where artists struggled to push through and how they resolved issues.

I have a rather... extensive... collection of documentation of the costumes of Anastasia the musical, designed by Linda Cho, so in 2023 I decided to start drawing them up in an illustrated guide or 'reverse' concept art book of sorts. Of course, I never had the intention to ever print it, but I did want to fully lay it out as complete as possible, just for fun. There's even a massive spreadsheet documenting my progress and keeping track of every costume, prop, and background to work on.

It's been a minute since I've picked up this project, though. Life got busy and searching for clearer reference images grew frustrating and time got away from me (as it is prone to do). Also, in the meantime, I feel like my skills have grown and my style has changed quite a bit since then, and I've even started using different brushes, so the thought of returning to this kind of scares me a little, because I feel like I'll have to scrap all the progress I've made to be fully satisfied with it.

That being said, there are a few figures and props that have come out marvelous, and it was a fun idea to work on.

What do you think? Are old projects worth returning to?

Howdy instagram! Man, I didn't mean to not post for a whole year... my bad lol.

Even though I've been quiet on here, I'm still quite busy making little projects for myself, lest you believed otherwise!! I just haven't been sharing much. This particular app is just really bad for my mental health. But I'm trying to work on ways to share more and expand where I share, while also trying not to be online so much again. Currently trying some new methods for posting. We'll see where it goes.

In the meantime I've got a few life updates:
I no longer work at an art museum, which does make me sad, but I'm very grateful for the memories made.
Now I'm a baker! Yippee!! Creative outlet!! New inspiration!! New things to learn and something that won't leave me so tired and sad after my shift!!
I've been exhibited in a few local shows, which is cool :)
Otherwise I've just been traveling here and there, seeing shows and the occasional concert every now and then, and working and painting when I can <3

Business updates:
I've officially set up a patreon!! We're only starting with a single paid tier for now, but if you can, I'd appreciate the support <3 I'm hoping this avenue will bring in some more income without me having to freelance or rely on commissions. I'd like to earn money painting what I want to paint, you know?

In the meantime I've got a few life updates:
I no longer work at an art museum, which does make me sad, but I'm very grateful for the memories made.
Now I'm a baker! Yippee!! Creative outlet!! New inspiration!! New things to learn and something that won't leave me so tired and sad after my shift!!
I've been exhibited in a few local shows, which is cool :)
Otherwise I've just been traveling here and there, seeing shows and the occasional concert every now and then, and working and painting when I can <3

Business updates:
I've officially set up a patreon!! We're only starting with a single paid tier for now, but if you can, I'd appreciate the support <3 I'm hoping this avenue will bring in some more income without me having to freelance or rely on commissions. I'd like to earn money painting what I want to paint, you know?
You can also 'buy me a coffee' as the kids say on ko-fi <3

Ordering a used ps4 last winter out of the blue was one of the best purchases I made for myself. I know it’s another screen 🙈 but at least it got me in the habit of engaging with a story and solving puzzles instead of doom scrolling on my phone all the time.

Anywho, #horizonzerodawn was the first thing I played 🥰 love the story and the world building. Since we’re a bit snowed in right now I’ve been thinking about playing this game again, we’ll see. Here’s a little sketch of the main character, #aloy 💕

Things have gotten a bit busy for me lately but I still wanted to document the shows I was lucky enough to see this last summer in New York. Similar to the previous post, here is a #hadestown poster I've worked on in small increments :)

This was my second trip underground but I laughed, cheered, cried, gasped in all the same places. Truly a haunting show. I was lucky enough to catch Eva's Eurydice again before she left, still gives me goosebumps thinking about that performance. It was my last hurrah before flying home the next morning. 'Til next time!
